Notes
The MKZ ? previously named the Zephyr ? is Lincoln's entry-level midsize sedan, and it competes with other entry-level vehicles, like the Lexus ES and Cadillac CTS. The MKZ can be had with all-wheel drive and, for 2008, gains standard heated and cooled front seats and a hands-free communication and entertainment system. Exterior The MKZ features prominent fog lights in front along with a thin crossbar across its waterfall grille. It also features rectangular headlights and bisected taillamps. Overall, the sedan has angular styling touches. Standard wheels measure 17 inches, and 17-inchers with an eight-spoke design are also available. Four new exterior colors were introduced for 2008: Dark Blue Ink, Moss Green, Vapor Silver and White Suede. Interior Satin nickel trim adorns the MKZ's interior. The dashboard features electroluminescent gauges, dual-zone automatic climate control and a conventional gearshift, as opposed to the gated versions some competitors have. Power-operated heated and cooled leather front seats are standard for 2008, and the 60/40-split rear seats fold to provide access to the 15.8-cubic-foot trunk. Interior options include a navigation system and a premium audio system with 14 speakers. Lincoln Sync, a hands-free communication and entertainment system, is newly standard for 2008. The system integrates mobile phones and media players using Bluetooth and USB technology. Lincoln also added standard Sirius Satellite Radio and a reverse-warning system that beeps at drivers to warn of things behind the vehicle. Under the Hood The MKZ gets a 263-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 249 pounds-feet of torque. The sole transmission is a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available. Safety All-disc antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags are standard. An electronic stability system isn't offered.
